What if I Need to Terminate my Insurance Benefits?

There are strict rules when it comes to enrolling in insurance benefits, however you may terminate or cancel your benefits for many reasons.

If you find yourself not needing your insurance benefits and would like to stop coverage, please reach out to your HR manager or your benefit administrator. Either one will be able to terminate your benefits for you. The benefits portal is also a great tool and you can terminate your benefits yourself by following the following steps below:

  1. Log into your company’s benefits portal.

  2. Under your dashboard, click on “Benefits”.

  3. Choose “Change My Benefits” and select “ Change Coverage”.

  4. If you have a Qualifying Life Event (i.e. marriage, address change, etc.), choose “yes” otherwise click “no”. For more information regarding what Qualifying Life Events are, please click here.

  5. Click “Benefits” and under “Specify Your Coverage” choose the “X” to waive coverage.

  6. Click “Continue” until you get to your forms. You will be asked to sign a form by typing in your name and drawing your signature.

  7. Once this step is complete, your benefit administrator will be notified and will terminate your benefits.
