Maryland Increases Minimum Wage
On January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Maryland will increase as follows.
Statewide Minimum Wage
The state minimum wage will increase to $13.25 per hour for employers with 15 or more employees, and $12.80 per hour for employers with 14 or fewer employees. The minimum base wage for tipped employees, regardless of employer size, remains $3.63 per hour.
Local Minimum Wages
Howard County’s hourly minimum wage will increase as follows:
Employers with 14 or fewer employees: $13.25
501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofits: $13.25
Employers that provide “home health services” or “home or community-based services” (as defined by federal law) and receive at least 75% of gross revenues through Medicaid: $13.25
Food service facilities (as defined by state law): $13.25
Employers with 15 or more employees: $15.00
Montgomery County also has its own minimum wage rates, but they aren’t scheduled to increase again until July 2023.
